Shooting Your Interview
- Choose your group.
- From the array of Interview ideas in your group, vote amongst yourselves to select the best one, and select a runner up as a backup in case anything goes wrong with shooting the first.
- Together, create a priliminary storyboard and plan the shots you will need to get.
- From yourselves, select the crew with the following positions and responsibilities. All of you will edit a version of the project on Final Cut Pro. Some of you will have to double up on roles. You will fill out evaulations on each other's performance and involvement for this project.
- Keep in mind that the final runtime of the interview will be 5 minutes long.
- Producer/Production manager
- (With the help of the rest of the crew) this person takes charge of the logistics.
- They know everyone's phone number etc. Who will be where and when etc.
- They plan backups
- Keeps the crew focused
- Arranges Permits
- Cinematographer/ Videographer
- (With the help of the rest of the crew) this person takes charge of the look, feel and movement of the film. This is usually the person looking through the frame at all times.
- Checks out equipment from Dan (In his Rio Grande office)
- Is in charge and PERSONALLY LIABLE for the equipment in his or her care.
- Director/ Interviewer
- (With the help of the rest of the crew) This person is in charge of a "Vision" for the itnerview and is the first of equals in creative choices for where and how to shoot the film.
- This requires close cooperation (not domination!) with cinematographer and producer!
- Keeps track of the video tape
- Sets up an appointment with Teacher for digitizing footage and burning it to DVD
- Certain places (i.e. the Florida Mall) , you may need a Permit. See me for details.
- Set a shooting date for the interview (you probably need to contact the interviewee for this)
- Must make an appointment for the group to meet with the instructor to digitize footage.
- The producer should email me at rtorman@iadt.edu with the following information (please put itv_interview_producers_name in the subject of the email):
- Who is doing what job?
- Where are your locations?
- When is your shooting date? (must be DONE before 5/10)
- When is your digitzing date?
- Go interview!
Group member grade
- After your interview is turned in you will answer a questionaire regarding you and the students you were grouped with. Your individual grade will be affected (some 20 to 30% of it) based on how your group-mates felt you contributed. Remember to be considerate, flexible and work as a group to get the best interview footage possible
Remember that projects are more than half your grade, don't be late or slack on this one!!!
