Shooting Dialogue Scene
In class today you will divide up into groups (groups were randomly selected on week 6) and select one of of your scritps to shoot as a group in class today.
From your instructor (Aimee, for this week) check out a camera, and tripod and film the story based on the script and storyboard. If you would like to make changes/improvements that would make your dialogue scene better, feel free to do so.
To make sure you have adequate coverage you should shoot the following:
- Record 2 minutes of "black" before you begin shooting
- All of the action in a wide/long shot
- All of the action looking at one character in an OTS (over the shoulder shot)
- All of the action looking at the other character in a matching OTS
- At least some of the action in a close up
- some of the action in an extreme close up
- have at least 5 cutaway shots (the clock, a close of the watch, keyboard, computer, etc)
- one establishing shot
- let tape roll before you say "action" (give a slow count to five or so)
- let tape roll after the action finishes (5 seconds is good)
- try to be as consistent as you can when you repeat the action over and over (its not easy)
In this project here are some important guidelines to follow:
- you want to have as many choices in editing as possbile, so don't be afraid to have as many "Takes" as possible
- try to get your scene as quiet as possible before recording or wait, but don't disrupt administators or classes!!
